The beautiful Somo River runs through The Farm and is an excellent fishing spot to catch trout. We also have several ponds stocked with blue gills and trout that make for an exciting catch whether you’re an experienced fisher or a first timer. Our stocked ponds are especially exciting for young children who want to learn to fish because they’ll get a bite every time their bobber hits the water. We also have other fishing ponds scattered throughout Palmquist Farm. Within a half hour drive or shorter, there are hundreds of other natural lakes available. In the past, Palmquist Farm has hosted fly fishing clinics. If interested, please contact us.

Imagine a hike without the distant sound of cars rushing by or even shouts from other hikers sharing your trail. Hiking our nature trails will be just that calm and will bring you through maple groves, up along hardwood ridges, and past our sparkling ponds. See whitetail deer, wood ducks, mallards, and geese. Enjoy the quiet outdoors as you weave your way through our miles of trials.

Maybe you’ll wander onto one of the hundreds of miles of scenic back country roads. The next day, take your bike on the nearby Bearskin Trail, Ice Age Trail, or Timm's Hill County Park (the highest point in Wisconsin). You may even enter the Dirtfighter Classic Bike Race in Phillips, WI which is about 25 miles away (the race takes place the third weekend of July). Whether you’re a kid or kid-at-heart, you’ll love The Farm’s scavenger hunt. Track down the Jesse James Gang, rescue a stolen horse or search out the treasure from a train robbery that happened a hundred years ago. It’s different every year, has three difficulty levels, and is included in your stay with us. There’s always a prize at the end. |

Hike out to the deer farm and step back into the days of the Wild West while visiting our herd of buffalo. We have 14 cows and one bull. When you come in the spring and early summer, expect to see buffalo calves bounding around the herd. We can also do wagon rides out to see the bison.

After you enjoy a home-cooked dinner, the frogs start to chirp, the light turns orange and yellow as the sun begins to set, and the sound of an authentic tractor and wagon driven by Jim Palmquist is heard making its way toward your cabin to pick you up for a wagon ride through Palmquist Farm's beautiful trails and forests. You’ll see wild geese, ducks, and whitetail deer, and buffalo. Sit back and watch the sunset as you are pulled through country fields and forests while the sounds of nature surround you. The horses can also be used upon request. |

Picture all your favorite parts of a cookout around the campfire next to a beautiful pond without all the hassle of hauling the food around, cooking it, and cleaning it up. We’ll gladly take care of the work while you enjoy the meal and time with friends and family roasting marshmallows and listening to the frogs chirp. Evening cookouts by the campfire are done by special request for larger groups of guests. |
