These towns have great restaurants, cafes, shops, and a variety of activities within easy driving distance of Palmquist Farm.
Northwoods Biking has general information about biking on roads and trails in Price, Lincoln and Vilas counties in Northern Wisconsin.
The Pine Line trail, trailhead located in Buccaneer Park in Prentice. Trail is 26.2 miles long and stretches from Prentice to Medford along an old rail line.
Holy Cross trail, located 7.5 miles north of Phillips. Features rolling terrain through a variety of timber types
Timm’s Hill trail, located east of Ogema. Very hilly terrain around Wisconsin’s highest point.
High Point trail, near Timm’s Hill and connects with Timm’s Hill trail, so terrain is similar.
The Price County visitor’s website has a list of general horseback riding locations, including state parks.
Holy Cross trail, located 7.5 miles north of Phillips, has recently been developed specifically for horseback riding. Features rolling terrain through a variety of timber types.
Timm’s Hill trail, located east of Ogema, allows horses on their trails from May 1st to November 15th. The very hilly terrain surrounds Wisconsin’s highest point. Horses cannot be ridden in Timm’s Hill park itself, but you can unload your horses by the hitching post in the parking area on the east side of Bass Lake to access the trail.

Bonnie’s Café, located on Lake Ave. Phillips WI, is a hole in the wall diner with a small town eatery vibe.
Solberg Lake County Park & Campground, located north of Phillips just off Old Hwy. 13. on W. Solberg Lake Road. Features large sand beach, playground, boat landing, drinking water, toilets, picnic tables, grills, shelter, horseshoes, volleyball, fishing, and hiking trails. Timm's Hill County Park, located near Ogema. Take Hwy. 13 to County Hwy. 86 to County Road CC to RR. Features sand beach, playground, boat landing, drinking water, toilets, picnic tables, fishing, hiking trails, grills, shelter, and electricity. Four Seasons Antique Mall, located in Marshfield, is Central Wisconsin’s largest antique mall.
Phillips, WI has a nice small town main street with lots of antique and Northwoods shops. Check out the Tamarack Shack for antiques or The Crazy Loon for outdoor adventure goods. Go here for a compete list of shops.
Tomahawk, WI also has a great main street with shops. Our favorite is Traditions, located at 214 West Wisconsin Ave. Tomahawk, WI 54487. It’s more of a junk shop than serious antique retailer, but you can find some great stuff for a great price. Go here for all shop listings.
Homespun Coffee & Crafts offers a variety of coffee drinks, ice cream, and breakfast and lunch items. They are also a gift shop.
Hill of Beans Coffee Shop near Ogema and Timm's Hill features many different hot drinks, including coffee, espresso, tea, and hot chocolate, plus hot sandwiches and soup.
What’s Brewin, located at 16 W Ave, Tomahawk, WI 54487. Great place for coffee or tea. Sit by yourself while reading a book or browsing the web. The décor is shabby chic, old recycled tables and chairs. Everything they serve is homemade and made from scratch.

Westwood Golf Course is located in Phillips and features a 9-hole course and offers dining from Sandtrap Bar & Grill.
Northwood Golf Club in Rhinelander features a highly-rated 18-hole public course and Mulligan’s Restaurant & Pub.
Trapp River Golf in Wausau features an 18-hole public course and pro shop.
Holiday Acres Riding Academy & Miniature Golf is located in Minocqua.
Settlers Mill Adventure Golf is located in Minocqua.

St. Urho/S. Patrick’s Day Celebration is held every year on St. Patrick’s Day in Brantwood. This Finnish-American holiday is based on the legend of St. Urho casting frogs and grasshoppers out of Finland.
Polka Fest, held in the spring in Butternut, features polka music and a polka church service.
Prentice Progress Days, held in late summer in Prentice, features softball and volleyball tournament, parade, rides, live music, horse pull, food, and more.
Taste of Tomahawk, held in March, in Tomahawk, offers a microbrew and wine tasting festival at Inshalla Country Club sponsored by the Tomahawk Chamber of Commerce.
Hodag Country Festival, held in July in Rhinelander, is a country music festival featuring many popular country artists.
Pow-Wow Days, an annual 4th of July celebration in Tomahawk, features a 5k/10k run, children's games, parade, water fights with fire department, music, and fireworks.
Christmas Tree Festival, held in September in Ogema, features a parade, arts & crafts sale, farmers market, food and other refreshments.
