In the last 57 years, Palmquist Farm has hosted guests from all over the United States and the world. Many of them return year after year. For our guests, visiting The Farm is like coming home to Grandma's house. We would love to treat you to that same warm, pleasant experience. Take a look at our Blog to see what’s happening at The Farm. About The Farm’s History:The Farm has a rich tradition of warm Finnish hospitality that goes back through 4 generations of the Palmquist family. Palmquist Farm emphasizes their Finnish heritage through buildings with traditional Finnish craftsmanship, through the healthful enjoyment of sauna baths, and through the tantalizing flavors of home-cooked Finnish dishes served family style or buffet style. In the late 1800s, Jim Palmquist's great grandfather settled The Farm and ran extensive logging operations in the area while also providing hospitality to his workers. This was before the days of unemployment insurance and retaining programs, so when logging would temporarily slacken because of weather or economic conditions or other factors, the elder Palmquist would invite loggers and their families to take up temporary residence there and work on the farm in exchange for room and board. Then in 1949 Art & Toinie Palmquist carried on this tradition of welcoming people into their home when they decided to open their special property to overnight guests. Since then, the Palmquist family has been taking in guests, and The Farm has grown, adding cozy cabins and new attractions to create what it is today. Jim (Art & Toinie's son) and his wife Helen are now excited to serve as your hosts. About The Farm’s Fame:Articles about Palmquist Farm's wonderful vacation experience have been in numerous publications over the years including regional newspapers, the New York Times, Family Fun Magazine, and Reader’s Digest. The Farm was most recently cited in Wisconsin Trail’s 45th anniversary edition as number 9 out of the 45 things Wisconsin Trails loves about Wisconsin. Wisconsin Trails writes, “A breakfast of Finnish pancakes, sausage, real maple syrup, and homemade raspberry preserves at Palmquist's ‘The Farm’ in Brantwood” is what we love about Palmquist Farm. The Farm has also been the subject of nationally broadcast television shows such as Stihl's Csonka Outdoors on the TNN network, showcasing grouse hunting. |
